Speaking
From A&E
to Antigua.
A keynote about identity, motivation and purpose — drawn from a journey that began in a hospital bed in November 2014 and ended, nine years later, rowing solo and unsupported into Antigua.
The talk follows my journey from a first hospital admission with heart arrhythmia in November 2014, ending a 27-year rugby career, to a pacemaker, the founding of a charity, and the solo Atlantic row that followed. It draws out what each stage taught me about identity, motivation, purpose, and the distance between who we believe we are and what we are capable of becoming.
It works as a keynote, a workshop, a panel conversation, or an interactive session — I've even brought a rowing machine into the room before to challenge a whole team to outrow myself and a friend. The format adapts; the substance doesn't.
